The Quinta da Calçada cellars were founded in 1917 in Portugal’s Vinho Verde region and have been owned by the Mota family since the 1960s. Located in one of the first sub-regions, Amarante, the quinta has 50ha of vineyards of varying ages that are managed following sustainable practices, both of which allows them to express the land through the wines. Within the region Quinta da Calçada were pionners of sparkling wine production using the classic method of Champagne, having since gone on to produce sparkling wines of varying styles and production methods.

Description

This sparkling Vinho Verde has a slight petillant to it, meaning its bubbles are light and delicate rather than the focus, and making it a joy to sip straight away. Citrus yellow in colour with greenish hints, that are typical of this grape variety, which is often referred to as ‘green wine’. The wine is full of citrus fruits, from lemon to grapefruit, and has a great freshness to it. Light, crisp, and fun, enjoy as an apéritif or with fresh seafood and salads.
