Located in central Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast, the wines of Tuscany are heavily influenced by the maritime climate, with harsh winters and hot summers. Appellations of this region present a wide variation of microclimates and soil types. The famous wines of Chianti are made with the red grape variety Sangiovese. Typically, these wines offer light-coloured, well-structured tannin, refreshing acidity and a medium to full body rich in cherry fruits with herbaceous undertones.
