A
t any awards ceremony, ‘who wore what wellgets just as much attention as ‘who won what.’ With that thought in mind, we’re chuffed to announce that following the rebrand of the core Adnams beer range, we have scooped several international design awards and a top industry accolade, which give a thumbs-up to our new-look bottles and cans.

With medals from the World Beer Awards and The Grocer’s New Product & Packaging Awards, we’re officially dressed to impress.

As well as judging a huge swathe of beer styles on taste, the World Beer Awards has Design Awards to acknowledge the equally hard work that goes into a beer’s presentation to drinkers. There are awards for bottles, cans and whole ranges, plus new releases and product rebrands.

Our refreshed bottles and cans scooped a whopping six awards in year’s competition, with country golds for Best Can Range and Best Bottle Design for Ghost Ship 4.5% Pale Ale. We also won Silver for two of our newer releases. The full list of our medals is detailed below:

In their own words, ‘the design categories in the World Beer Awards play an important role in showcasing the creativity, innovation, and artistry behind the industry, so we’re understandably thrilled for the Adnams marketing team, our design agency Cookchick and artist Vanessa Sorboen, who painted the original artwork.

As if that wasn’t glamorous enough, in the latest news from the red carpet, we have also received Silver for the Adnams beer range at The Grocer’s New Product & Packaging Awards 2024.

This prestigious event is held at Wembley Stadium and presents a unique opportunity to recognise product and packaging innovation within the fmcg sector – that’s fast-moving consumer goods for short, or grocery and drinks products to you and me. The nominees are evaluated by expert judges, who are drawn from a broad range of disciplines.

Looks certainly aren’t everything, but we all love a compliment, and the judge’s comments drew attention to how the range captured the spirit of Suffolk and had great shelf appeal.

Congratulations to all involved!

Ghost Ship 0.5%: So good we painted it twice! Otherworldly sunset colours set our ghost ships apart. In this manifestation the sun glints on the sails, while the shore is still shrouded in darkness.

Ghost Ship Pale Ale: Previously depicted at sea, our ethereal vessel is now seen from Walberswick’s shore. The ship’s enveloped in fog and lit by the moonlight - a sight that is true to the legend.

Broadside: The sky in this scene takes on a fiery glow, while recognisable ships fire their cannons. There’s an added sense of perspective and place, as you can now spy our town in the distance.

Dry Hopped Lager: It’s a hot, sunny day on the beach here in Southwold, when only a lager will do. The beach huts and sandy Sole Bay scene reflect the brand’s colours in a view that feels fresh.

Mosaic Pale Ale: Dunwich Forest has a mosaic of habitats, as heathland meets forest then beach. This setting sun moment shows the light through the trees casting geometric shapes on the floor.

Southwold Bitter: We take a step back to take in the view. Southwold Jack remains our guardian, but he’s no longer far from home. You now find him in situ, standing proud on the brewery wall.
